Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material superior in various fastnesses and reduced in background fogging, by using a specific fluorane compound as a leuco dye. CONSTITUTION:As a leuco dye, a fluorane compound shown by a formula (I) is used, where R1 and R2 independently represents C1-C4 alkyl, and X represents fluorine or chlorine atom. A thermal recording material contains a color developer and a binder in addition to the compound shown by the formula. As a color developing substance, an aromatic carboxylic acid derivative, such as P-octylphenol and P-tert-butylphenol, and a polyvalent metal salt of carboxylic acid can be cited.
