Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for the provision of a complicated protocol conversion function to each station by providing concentratingly the protocol conversion function to at least one part of a loop transmission line. CONSTITUTION:In the case of relaying a protocol data frame sent/received by a station 4 from a conversion station 5, the unnecessity of protocol conversion is discriminated and only the relay function of each protocol data frame is executed. On the other hand, in the case of transmission/reception between channel devices 2 and 3 with different protocols for the communication, the conversion station 5 applies protocol conversion by using the information in the relayed protocol data frame and sends the result to a transmission line 1. Moreover, the inverse conversion is applied similarly.
