METALLIC CARRIER FOR CATALYST AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To obtain a metallic carrier for catalyst constructed by winding firmly a flat plate having ripples formed thereon together with a corrugated plate wherein flat parts of a specified breadth and contg. no ripples are formed in the middle part of a metallic rippled flat plate in a winding direction of the rippled plate. CONSTITUTION:A flat part 31 formed in the middle of a rippled flat plate 25 is pressed from both sides of the plate between rolls 43 at a specified position between a feeding device 35 of the rippled plate and a mandrel 41. And, the rippled flat plate 25 and a corrugated plate 23 together are wound firmly by winding them around the mandrel 41 while applying a tension to the rippled flat plate 25. Thus, a metallic carrier for catalyst having cores 27 formed by winding a metallic corrugated plate 23 and a rippled flat plate 25 superposed thereon in multiple layers, is obtd. Since no gaps are formed between the rippled flat plate 25 and the corrugated plate 23 in this catalyst carrier, occurrence of film-out phenomenon is prevented effectively.
