COMPOSITE MAGNETIC HEAD

PURPOSE:To prevent a tape from meandering and to improve the head touch of tracks near edge parts on both the sides of the tape in a multitrack head by inclining a pair of heads in opposite tape width directions and fitting them. CONSTITUTION:One magnetic head 1 is so inclined that its one end in the tape width direction may be close to the tape and the other end in the tape width direction may be apart from the tape and the other magnetic head 2 is inclined at the same angle opposite to the magnetic head 1 to the magnetic tape. Here, the tape runs on a head contact face whose section is an opened U shape (a shape curved like a bow). Thus, the meandering of the tape can be prevented without increasing tape tension. Especially the head touch of the tracks near the edge parts on both the sides of the tape can be improved satisfactorily, troubles such as off-track and dropout can be removed and outputs at the time of recording and reproducing can be improved.
