Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve the polishing precision by providing a speed control mechanism to control the peripheral speed change of the lens face of an aspheric lens against a polishing body moved in the radial direction and reciprocate it at the fixed relative moving speed. CONSTITUTION:A swaying body 14 in a swaying mechanism 12 is swayed after a model body 27 fitted to the machine side while the periphery of a polishing body 6 is pressed to the lens face of a rotating aspheric lens L toward the rotating direction, the polishing body 6 is reciprocated in the radial direction of the lens face of the aspheric lens L. In this case, the right end left rotary motion or the fulcrum shaft 15 of the swaying mechanism 12 is detected by a rotation angle detector 32, the peripheral speed change of the lens face of the aspheric lens L against the polishing body 6 moved in the radial direction is controlled by a speed adjusting mechanism 31 based on this detected value so that the relative moving speed is invariably kept at a constant speed, the lens face of the aspheric lens L is polished with high precision.
