Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To obtain a highly rigid sliding material capable of keeping the abrasion loss as small as possible and having a low coefficient of dynamic friction by blending a synthetic resin with titania fibers. CONSTITUTION:For a fiber reinforced composite material blended with titania fibers, when it is used as a sliding material, the abrasion loss or itself and a mating material is reduced, and the temperature rise due to frictional heat is also reduced. Since the hardness and the diameter of the titania fiber are adequate, a composite material that features a low coefficient of dynamic friction and a reduced abrasion loss of itself and a mating material can be obtained by blending a synthetic resin with the titania fibers. The modulas of elasticity of the titania fiber is large, so that the rigidity of the composite material becomes higher. Since the diameter of the titania fiber is fine and its dispersibility is good, a composite material whose surface is less anisotropic and smooth, can be obtained.
