METHOD FOR MELT SPINNING PITCH

PURPOSE:To suppress formation of tarlike substances, prevent yarn breakage from occurring and safely improve operability at a low cost, by blowing superheated steam into a part just under the surface of a spinneret in spinning molten pitch from the spinneret. CONSTITUTION:Molten pitch is melted, e.g., at 330 deg.C melt temperature, and introduced into a spinneret pack 1. Superheated steam is blown from a steam introduction pipe 6 through a heater 5 into a part just under the surface of a spinneret 2 to regulate an atmospheric temperature T( deg.C) to T>P-30 [P is melting temperature ( deg.C) of the pitch] just under the spinneret 2, extrude the molten pitch from the spinneret and form a pitch yarn 3. Since sticking of hydrogen vapors in the pitch to the spinneret surface or thermal deterioration of sticking materials by oxygen can be prevented, formation of tarlike materials is suppressed.
