MAGNETIC RECORDING DEVICE

PURPOSE:To improve the off-track and crosstalk characteristics by setting the head element of a 2nd head at a part where a 1st head performed no recording/reproducing actions when both heads move on a magnetic recording medium to record and reproduce the signals. CONSTITUTION:Plural tracks are recorded on a magnetic recording medium by a 1st head 18 at an azimuth theta1 and with a certain space secured among those tracks. At the same time, the space parts among the tracks recorded by the head 8 are recorded by a 2nd head 9 at an azimuth theta2. Then the same head scanning operations are carried out also when the signals recorded on the recording medium are reproduced. Thus no unrecorded part exists virtually on the recording medium and the signals are recorded with the azimuths given to each track. As a result, the off-track and crosstalk characteristics can be improved.
