PURPOSE:To smoothly exhaust gas generated in a container from a venthole by providing a taper to the inside of the side wall of the container. CONSTITUTION:A known manufacturing apparatus for dry ice is composed chiefly of an upper compressing mechanism 4 and a bottom opened container 1 having a liquefied CO2 introducing hole 2 and a venthole 3 at the side wall. A taper is provided to the inside of the side wall so as to regulate the maximum value of the clearance between the inside of the side wall and a ram 4' to 1-10, especially 3-10mm.. Accordingly, as the ram 4' attached to the mechanism 4 lowers, the tap between the ram 4' and the side wall of the container 1 is gradually extended, so the gap is not clogged to smoothly exhaust gas generated in the container 1 from the venthole 3.
