SURGE ABSORBER

PURPOSE:To obtain a surge absorber which is superior in surge lifetime characteristics, by causing a bolt consisting of an insulator which is inserted in the hollow part of cylindrical varistors to be formed into the shape having a sliced face at the side face of its bolt. CONSTITUTION:Varistors 11a, 11b and 11c and electrode plates 12a and 12b are connected and fixed by inserting a bolt 13 consisting of an insulator into the hollow parts of the above varistors and electrode plates and by tightening nuts 14a and 14b. In such a case, the bolt 13 has a sliced face 13a at its side face. Insulation oil flows also into the hollow parts of the varistors after passing through the sliced face 13a of the bolt 13 and a gap between the nuts 14a and 14b. Heat energy generated by the foregoing varistors is discharged from both the outside and inside faces of the varistors. Thus, a surge absorber which is superior in the surge lifetime characteristics is obtained.
