Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve casting speed and to restrain the development of shrinkage hole by using fluidized bed fluidizing solid grains at the time of cooling a cast billet drawn from a mold. CONSTITUTION:Molten metal supplied from a nozzle 1 is primarily cooled in the mold 3 circulating cooling water through an inlet 6 and an outlet 5 and the solidification is immediately started. Solidification of the molten metal in the mold is progressed while forming the solid-liquid coexisting zone 20 between the liquids level 18 and the solids level 19. The cast billet 11 drawn from the mold 3 is secondarily cooled with the fluidized bed 8. As this secondary cooling is cooled more intensely than the conventional method with only the above primary cooling, the solids level 19 in the cast billet is ascended and approached to the liquids level 18. In this result, the solid-liquid coexisting zone 20 is shorter than the above conventional method and growth of shrinkage hole developing in this zone is restrained. Further, in the result of ascending the solids level 19, the casting speed can be increased.
