Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To have precise control of the fuel injection amount at all times by providing a pressure regulator to adjust the fuel pressure on the basis of the differential pressure between the fuel pressure and suction pressure, and equipping it with possibility of varying the extract point for the pressure in the suction passage of the regulator according to the altered timing of the fuel injection. CONSTITUTION:In a series four-cylinder engine, independent suction passages 5 (5a-5d) are connected with cylinders 2a-2d, and passages 5 are provided with throttle valves 7 (7a-7d) and fuel injection valves 8 (8a-8d) interlocked with one another. The upstream of each independent suction passage 5 is connected with a surge tank 4, and a throttle valve 6 is mounted on a common suction passage 3 in the upstream of this surge tank 4. The fuel injection valve 8 and fuel tank 12 are contoured through a fuel return passage 14 having a pressure regulator 13. The downstream of a throttle valve 7 on each independent suction passage 5 is connected with a communication path 22 through passages 20a-20d, and the communication path 22 is connected with a negative pressure chamber 16 of the regulator 13 and surge tank 4 via a three-way valve 24.
