SOLUTION TO BE BLENDED WITH COSMETIC, COMPRISING EXTRACT OF PHAEOPHYKA

PURPOSE:To obtain a solution to be blended with cosmetic, having melanin formation suppressing ability, comprising a water-soluble extract containing a phenolic compound extracted from Phaeophyka and having no gel-forming ability. CONSTITUTION:A water-soluble extract containing a phenolic compound extracted from Phaeophyka and having no gel-forming ability obtained from Phaeophyka, especially an alga belonging to the family Fucaceae as a starting raw material, preferably a water-soluble component obtained as a by-product in producing alginic acid from the alga as a solution having melanin formation suppressing ability to be added to cosmetic is blended with cosmetics containing a drug, quasi-drug, etc. to give cosmetics effective for preventing and alleviating deterioration and sunburn of skin and hair resulting from irradiation with sunlight (ultraviolet light ray) and to effectively use the by-product. A phenolic compound obtained by further purifying the extract may be used instead of the extract.
