Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain a disk medium having the high S/N necessary for obtaining the higher density by using acidic iron oxide powder having a specified specific surface area. CONSTITUTION:The high S/N necessary for obtaining the higher density is attained without deteriorating the durability of a coated film if a coating type recording layer is formed by using the cobalt-deposited type gamma-Fe2O3 and gamma-Fe2O3 acidic iron oxide powder having >=40m /g BET specific surface area. The coating type magnetic disk medium which is capable of making the high-density recording at the high S/N is thus obtd.
