NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [R and R are lower alkyl or -A-NR R (A is lower alkylene; R is lower alkyl; R is lower alkyl or aralkyl or R and R together form 5-6-membered ring); R and R are lower alkyl; R and R are H, halogen, lower alkoxy, lower alkoxycarbonyl or nitro; R and R adjacent together form lower alkylenedioxy; the broken line is double bond of resonance structure in the ring or double bond at the 2,3- and 5,6-positions; R is H, lower alkyl, etc.] and salts thereof. EXAMPLE:Dimethyl 4-(2-methoxy-3,4-methylenedioxy)phenyl-2,6-dimethyl-1,4- dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarboxylate. USE:A remedy for hepatopathy. PREPARATION:A compound expressed by formula II is reacted with a compound expressed by formula III in a solvent, such as methanol or DMF, to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula IV, etc.
