DEODORIZING AND STERILIZING COMPOSITION

PURPOSE:To provide the above composition composed of an aqueous solution of a hypochlorous acid salt and a specific diphosphonic acid compound as a stabilizer, having strong deodorizing and fungicidal effect and useful for the deodorization and sterilization of toilet, treatment plant of human wastes and sewage, waste disposal plant, Nox in atmosphere, fishing boat, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is produced by mixing (A) an aqueous solution of a hypochlorous acid salt having a concentration of 0.01-25wt.%, stable at normal temperature in neutral or alkaline state and easily and safely transportable and (B) a diphostphonic acid compound of formula (A1 is H or lower alkyl; A2-A4 are H, alkali metal or ammonium) (e.g., hydroxyethylidenediphosphonic acid sodium salt). The amount of the compound of formula is 0.001-5 pts. per 1 pt. of the hypochlorous acid salt. Any hypochlorous acid salt is effective provided that it contains ClO ion and the salt is e.g., an alkali or alkaline-earth metal salt such as sodium or calcium hypochlorite. The composition is sprayed to the source of malodor in the form of an aqueous solution or aerosol having a concentration of 10ppm-10wt.%.
