Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain a treating agent capable of imparting fibers and paper with such functions as highly durable water-absorptivity and resistance to repeated stain, by graft polymerization of polymerizable double bond-contg. monomer(s) to a polyester resin containing in the molecule hydrophilic group. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous dispersion of polyester resin containing in the molecule hydrophilic group such as polyethylene glycol, hydroxyl group or carboxyl group is incorporated with 0.1-500wt.% (based on the eight of said resin) of one or more kinds of monomer having polymerizable double bond (e.g., vinyl ester, unsaturated carboxylic ester) followed by carrying out a graft polymerization to obtain the objective treating agent consisting of a modified polyester resin. This resin is applied on a textile product (or paper product) by e.g. an exhaustion technique along with performing such functional processes such as water-absorptivity and/or anistaticity provisions, thus enabling said product(s) to be imparted with highly durable functionality (e.g., water absorptivity, resistivity).
