DISPLAY DEVICE

PURPOSE:To improve the character collating efficiency by displaying the character data inputted with operations to a skilled operator in place of the recognized character data. CONSTITUTION:When normal collating job carried out between the image data shown by a 1st display means 41 and the recognized characters shown by a 2nd display means 42 is decided undesirable, if an instruction is given from an inhibition instructing means 20 with a job performed by a skilled operator, for example, the recognizing jobs of a recognizing means 8 or the displaying jobs of the means 42 are inhibited. Then the image data that read the characters written on a medium via a reading means 6 is displayed by the means 41. When the operator performs the input of the character data via an input means 2 while looking at the displayed image data, the characters are displayed by a 3rd display means 43 and the operator carries out the visual collation of characters.
