INSPECTING DEVICE FOR LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE

PURPOSE:To detect a defect and a projection part of a fine part by comparing a CCD element corresponding to a liquid crystal plate to be inspected with a reference image and deciding whether or not each unit picture element has a defect. CONSTITUTION:Light which is reflected by a liquid crystal plate to be inspected passes through a deflecting mirror 8 to form an image on a CCD camera 9 and outputted as a video signal to an image processing part 12. An A/D conversion part 13 converts the video signal into 8-bit data (one picture element) with 256 gradations. As image processing arithmetic part 14 extracts and classifies the position shift and defect of the liquid crystal plate and decides its quality. In concrete, one character is divided into plural sections and one section is analyzed. A dotted line M indicates a master element and a solid line A indicates the section to be inspected. Firstly, whether or not the section A to be inspected projects from the border part of the master element M and whether or not there is a pinhole at the section A to be inspected or chipping at the border part are inspected. At this time, a control part 5 indicates the kind of inspection to the image processing part 12.
