Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To improve an application quality by arranging a slit width of an air nozzle to be a specified size, a distance between an arrival point of a jet stream at a web and a tip of the air nozzle to be a length of specified times as long as the slit width and an angle formed by the direction of the jet stream through the arrival point with a normal to be a specified magnitude. CONSTITUTION:An application liquid exceeding a prescribed amount is applied to a web W wound and allowed to run round a back roller by a fountain-type coater and adjusted to a prescribed film thickness by an air doctor. As for the aforementioned air doctor Ba and Bb, a slit width D of an air nozzle ejecting a jet stream is specified to be not wider than 600mum. At the same time, a distance L between an arrival point O of the jet stream at the web and a tip of the air nozzle is specified to be not longer than 3.5 times as long as the slit width D. Moreover, in a quadrant defined by the arrival point O as an origin, a normal Ox of the web surface and a tangent Oy in an application direction, an angle theta formed by a direction of jet stream through the origin O with the normal Ox is specified to be 37 deg. or larger. It is made possible, as a result, to improve an application quality of a low viscous liquid.
