Zusammenfassung:PURPOSE:To shorten a flaw detection time by eliminating the excessive wasteful time between steel plates, by performing the feed-in of the next steel plate to an area where an edge flaw detection mechanism is positioned and the operation for catching the end part of the steel plate during a time when a central flaw detection mechanism performs the flaw detection of the bottom final end part of the previous steel plate. CONSTITUTION:When the setting of the bottom final end of a previous steel plate 1a at the position of a central flaw detection mechanism 2 is completed, a setting completion signal is sent to a total control part 13 through driving control parts 9, 11 and further transmitted to a driving control part 10 to drive a feed table 7. By this mechanism, the next steel plate 1b is fed in to be set to the position 1b' is fed in to be set to the position 1b' of an edge flaw detection mechanism. Thereafter, the steel plate 1a is subjected to flaw detection while scanned up to a position 2' in a direction (a) by the mechanism 2. When the flaw detection scanning of the bottom final end part of the steel plate 1a is completed, a feed table 6 is driven to feed out the steel plate 1a to the next process. This completion signal is transmitted to a control part 13 through the driving control part 11 and the table 6 feeds out the steel plate 1a to the control part 9 while the table 7 is driven by the control part 10 to start the flaw detection operation of the steel plate 1b'.
