Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To prevent an overvoltage from being generated by connecting a series circuit of one set of Zener diodes and a smoothing capacitor between the DC output terminals of a rectifier. CONSTITUTION:A power source circuit is composed of a rectifier 1 for rectifying a commercial power source AC, and an inverter 2 for firing discharge lamps 3 of output terminals T1-T2. A series circuit having a smoothing capacitor C1, a diode D2, a resistor R and other smoothing capacitor C2, a Zener diode ZD1 connected between the connecting point of the capacitor C1 and the diode D2 and the terminal T2, and a Zener diode ZD2 connected between the connecting point of the resistor R and the capacitor C2 and the terminal T1 are provided between the output terminals T1 and T2. Thus, the stored charges of the capacitors C1-C2 are discharged through the diodes ZD1-ZD2, and an overvoltage due to an external surge is absorbed thereto.
