ARTIFICIAL LIGHT-WEIGHT SOIL

PURPOSE:To obtain artificial light-weight soil to relieve earth pressures by a method in which natural soil, industrial wastes such as flyash, blast furnace slag, etc., or a mixture of these is mixed with a blowing agent for generating bubbles or air bubbles and a binder with stirring. CONSTITUTION:Natural soil such as excavated soil B of the base ground 10 is mixed with air bubbles D produced in a foamer 16 having an aqueous solution C containing surfactant and animal hydrolyzed protein with compressed air, together with a foaming agent with a binder E in a mixer 18. The artificial light-weight soil A so formed is charged into the necessed excavated section of the base ground 10 by a belt conveyer 20 to form a replaced portion 12 and a banking is formed on it. Unit volume and weight of the soil is reduced by as much as bubbles D added to the soil A and weight acting on the ground 10 is reduced. Stability can thus be increased and the sharing strength of the replaced portion 12 with the binder E and the banking 14 can be increased.
