Zusammenfassung:	Bisphenol aromatics are prepared by reaction of aromatic ketones, such as diaryl ketones or diaryl diketones, with phenols in the presence of acid condensation catalysts, the catalysts used being insoluble, strongly acidic cation exchanger resins. The reaction is carried out in the presence of a sulphur-containing co-catalyst. For example, 9,9-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)fluorene is prepared by reaction of fluorenone with phenol.
