OPTICAL DISK SEEKING METHOD

PURPOSE:To shorten a seeking time by comparing an address, which is read after the end of a seeking, with a seek target address, repeating an address reading only when an error is large and executing comparison with the seek target address and confirmation. CONSTITUTION:The address to be read after the end of the seeking is compared with the seek target address and when the error is within an allowing error, the read address is adopted as a present address. Only when the error between the read address and the seek target address is out of an allowing value, the address reading is repeated and the comparison between the read addresses is executed. When the value of the address is largely different from the target address in spite of coincidence, the address is decided as a seek error and the value of the allowing error is changed in the respective steps of the seeking. Thus, the repeating of the address confirmation is reduced and an address reading time can be decreased during seek operation.
