WEIR FOR TUNDISH

PURPOSE:To reduce the production cost and to prevent the mixture of inclusion by sticking coating wear layer around a permanent block with powdery material composing of refractory aggregate, inorganic and organic binder and metal powder for sintering. CONSTITUTION:The permanent block 10 having projecting part 11 and recessed part 12 is formed with castable, plastic, powdery material, etc., and set in the molding flask. Successively, the powdery material mixing the refractory aggregate, inorganic and/or organic binders and metal powder for sintering is packed into the gap between the molding flask and the permanent block 10 and hardened. Successively, binder is melted by heating at low temp. and the permanent block 10 and the wear coating layer 20 are stuck, to form the integrated weir. By reusing the permanent block 10, the production cost of the weir is reduced, and as the weir material is powdery material, the restriction of the used material quality is eliminated and mixture of the inclusion with the molten metal is prevented.
