PRODUCTION OF MULTILAYER BITUMEN CONTAINING STRIP LIKE SEAL MATERIAL

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject sealing material having self-adhesiveness by applying an adhesive containing heated bitumen or not containing heated bitumen to the surface of strip-like bitumen heat-activated by heating the surface of the bitumen coated with a coating agent at a specific temperature exceeding a softening point for a short time. CONSTITUTION: A strip-like bitumen whose one surface or both surfaces are coated with a coating agent is cooled and the surface to be coated is heated at a temperature exceeding a softening point between 140 deg.C and 120 deg.C for a short time (e.g. using infrared rays) to heat-activate the surface and an adhesive containing or not containing bitumen heated to 140-220 deg.C is applied to the surface and the treated bitumen is passed through a calender to afford smooth surface and then, as necessary, a protective sheet are laminated to the surface of the treated bitumen and the treated bitumen is cooled to provide the objective multilayered bitumen-containing strip-like sealing material. According to the method, a high quality sealing material firmly binding an adhesive layer to a strip-like material can simply be produced.
