STEAM IRON

PURPOSE: To jet steam by operating a switch operation piece in a rotating direction to a handle axial center with respect to a steam iron incorporating a switch and the switch operation piece at the front part of a handle holding part. CONSTITUTION: When a heater 2 is energized, the base 1 and a vaporization chamber 3 are kept at a temperature suitable for ironing. Then, in the state of holding a handle part 7 and putting a thumb on the switch operation piece 11, since force is applied in a handle axial center direction and the switch operation piece 11 is not rotated, ironing in a dry state is performed. Then, at the time of wanting to generate the steam, just by slightly applying the force in the rotating direction without moving the thumb, the switch operation piece 11 is rotated, and by turning ON the switch 14 and operating a solenoid valve, the steam is jetted. Also, inversely at the time of switching to the dry state, just by removing the force in the rotating direction, the switch 14 is turned OFF by the function of a spring 17.
