MULTIPLEX WINDING COIL

PURPOSE:To prevent wrinkles in a coil and to improve mechanical strength as well as interlayer insulation by winding an insulator tape whose width is enlarged progressively from the starting end to the terminal end, while lapping one over the other, to provide an interlayer insulating member. CONSTITUTION:An insulator tape 17 whose width is enlarged progressively from the starting end to the terminal end is wound while overlapping the layers thereof to form an interlayer insulating member 16. The insulating member 16 thus formed has thickness which is enlarged progressively from the starting end to the terminal end. Since the insulator tape 17 is wound such that its layers overlap with each other while the tape is held at a predetermined winding angle, the tape 17 is not bent in any part and is freed of wrinkles. Accordingly, the insulator tape 17 is subjected to uniform tension and, therefore, the tape 17 can be wound under enough tension. A resulting coil can be produced without blisters and is allowed to have an outer diameter duly according to standard. Accordingly, the coil has sufficient mechanical strength in case of short-circuit.
