APPARATUS FOR MOUNTING COMPONENT

PURPOSE:To prevent the breakage of components by providing plural sets of component position control devices which are different in the operation speed of the position control claw, and making it possible to select the position control claw access speeds depending on the type of components. CONSTITUTION:If a part 1 to be mounted is of a type which has resistance to a shock, an access drive unit 190a operates to cause a vacuum suction unit 80 to rapidly fall. When a nozzle 83 has reached the component 1, an air cylinder 104 causes a presser 105 to fall by a control signal from a control unit 200, a vacuum switching valve 100 opens, and the nozzle 83 sucks the component 1. The vacuum suction unit 80 rises as an elevator 110 rises, and it is conveyed by the intermittent rotation of a transfer unit 60 from a component supply station I to a parts position control station II. To mount a fine component 1 such as an IC chip, the control unit 200 operates an access drive unit 190b rather than the access drive unit 190a. By this, the vacuum suction unit 80 has a slow access to the component 1 and also slowly mounts the component 1 on a substrate 2. The intermediate acceleration is also gradual.
