MANUFACTURE OF FLAT CABLE

PURPOSE:To reduce wasteful arrangements due to work changes by fixing both the outer shape and position of a lower roll in a molding device integrally melting insulated wire cores and replacing only an upper roll. CONSTITUTION:Insulated wire cores passing in parallel between the upper and lower rolls 11 and 12 of a molding device 10 and melted on the surface are pressed between the upper roll 11 and the lower roll 12 operated by cylinders 18 and integrally melted intermittently between adjacent insulated wire cores, and a flat cable 5 with the intermittent fusion width L can be manufactured. When a flat cable 5' with the intermittent fusion width L' is to be manufactured in place of the flat cable 5 with the intermittent fusion width L, the upper roll 11 with the same diameter as that of the lower roll 12 is replaced by an upper roll 11' with a larger diameter, and a side gear 16 is also replaced by the side gear 16' associated with this roll 11'. The molding device can thereby have many common portions, and arrangements can be improved.
