Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To improve the opacifying effect of a metallic coating layer by forming a base coat layer having a specific composition on a substrate and, according to need, overlaying it with a clear coat layer, a base coat layer and a clear coat layer, in this order, before metallic finish is performed. CONSTITUTION:A base coat layer 1 is formed on a substrate and, according to need, the base coat layer is overlaid with a clear coat layer 2, a base coat layer 3 and a clear coat layer 4, in this order, before metallic finish is performed. In this case, the base coat layer 1 is a cured layer consisting of a composition containing 1-30pts.wt. of powdery Al, as an essential component, per 100pts.wt. of the resin on a dry basis. The base coat layer 3 is cured layer consisting of a composition containing 10-85wt.% of titanium oxide and/or iron oxide as an essential component, and 1-40pts.wt. of a 1-25mu thick mica flake pigment, per 100pts.wt. of the resin on a dry basis.
