Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To obtain treated water having specified quality in a short period of time by using acicular crystal cellulose which has a hollow sectional structure and a specified grain size or below as a settling agent for activated sludge in a biological oxidation water treatment. CONSTITUTION:The settling agent for activated sludge of a biooxidation water treating method consisting of the powder of >=150micron average grain size which is the acicular crystal cellulose and has the hollow sectional structure in at last part thereof is used in the treatment of the waste water associated with industry and living. The settling agent is crosslinked mechanically to the poor setting sludge if such agent is used. In addition, the biological membrane layer derived from the sludge is formed on the cellulose surface, by which the affinity to the sludge is increased and the powerful flowable settling nuclei are formed. The settling speed of the sludge is, therefore, improved and the bulking is prevented. The treated water having the specified quality is thus stably obtd. in a short period of time.
