CONSTITUTION:A substance obtained by wholly or partially replacing a cation, capable of being subjected to ion exchange, of a gallium-containing crystalline silicate which is shown by the formula [x is 0.7-1.1; M is cation; n is 2/(ion value of cation); y is 5-300; z is 0-200] and has major diffraction lines with lattice spacing and relative intensity shown by the table is used as a catalyst 5-8C cycloalkene (e.g., cyclopentene, cyclohexene or cyclooctene) is hydrated to give cycloalkanol.
