PURPOSE:To obtain the natural Japanese translation against the English words by analyzing an idiom even in case this idiom is not contained in a dictionary and giving no translated word to an adverb. CONSTITUTION:A dictionary 2 included in a mechanical translation system device contains the forms of words, the conjugations, the parts of speech, the translated words, etc. The sort of the parts of speech is described to the verbs serving as the component elements of the idioms contained in the dictionary 2. Then a translated word having the high universal applicability is described as the first translated word for the sort of the parts of speech. At the same time, the sort of parts of speech is also described to the adverbs serving as the idiom component elements. Then an idiom process is carried out as a process of a syntax structure analyzing part 5 or a converting part 12, and no translated word is given to an adverb. In such a way, the natural Japanese translation is obtained against the English words.
