PURPOSE:To easily grasp the actual state of a screen while controlling and enable the correct control by forming a wide video surface from the display positions of controlled items and a controlled variable mark to the end side of horizontal scanning. CONSTITUTION:The controlled items 7 display items regarding video control, e.g. depth of colors, a shade, a contrast, brightness, etc. The controlled variable mark 8 is displayed below the display position of the controlled items 7 with a width nearly equal to the character range of the controlled items 7, and each time one of the controlled items 7 is specified by up/down push-button operation on a remote controller, the controlled variable of the specified item is indicated. A simple program displays the respective controlled items 7 on the screen at a time, and respective controlled variable marks are displayed by the controlled items 7 or each time the controlled items 7 are specified to secure the wide video surface 9, so the picture quality can easily be adjusted while looking over a video.
