PURPOSE:To provide a mobile image pickup device capable of remote automatic photographing many monitoring points in a wide range and minutely with a single camera head. CONSTITUTION:This mobile image pickup device capable of reciprocating inside of a guide tube 8 is provided with a camera head 1 with a built-in small size CCD camera 10 having an automatic zoom, automatic diaphragm and automatic focusing mechanism; a tilt/rotation mechanism 2 connected to a rear part of the camera head 1; a control/communication device 3 connected to a rear part of the tilt/rotation mechanism 2 via a universal joint 7; and a cable tube 4 connected to a rear part of the control/communication device 3 and guiding cables connected to various instruments to the outside of the guide tube 8. It is further provided with flexible covers 19, 21 for watertightly covering a connection part between the camera head 1 and the tilt/rotation mechanism 2 and a universal joint part, and a tilt lever 5 composed of a thin wire material and reciprocatably assembled to the tilt/rotation mechanism 2 for tilting the camera head 1.
