PURPOSE:To provide a scratch color forming printing method and scratch color forming printed matter dispensing with the enhancement of concealability and a measure against light permeability, free in design effect, not disadvantageous from the aspect of productivity and cost and capable of preventing dangerousness such that winning/non-winning is judged before use. CONSTITUTION:Character printing is partially applied to coated paper 1 by letterpress printing using coupling ink to form a coupler layer 2 due to character printing to obtain a trial-printed matter 3. Blue color forming dye capsules 4 are mixed with red in an amt. of 25% to prepare red scratch ink which is, in turn, subjected to pattern printing by a screen printing plate so as to conceal the character printed by a coupler to form a scratch layer 5 to obtain scratch printed matter 6. When the red scratch layer 5 is rubbed off by a nail or a coin, the character 6 printed by coupling ink develops a color (blue) to be embossed and the shape of the character 6 can be clearly discriminated.
