PURPOSE:To provide a secondary battery having high capacity and excellent in cycle characteristics by using in a negative electrode a specific insoluble, infusible base molded using a specific binder. CONSTITUTION:In an organic electrolyte battery, having a positive electrode 1, a negative electrode 2, and an aprotic organic solvent solution of lithium salts as electrolyte 4, the negative electrode 2 is a molding made from an insoluble, infusible base made of a heat treated aromatic condensation polymer having a polyacene skeleton structure with a hydrogen-to-carbon atomic ratio of 0.5-0.05, and a binder. The binder is a fluorine-containing polymer with a fluorine-to-carbon atomic ratio of 1.5 or less and 0.75 or more, and the negative electrode 2 supports 3 (or higher) mol% lithium.
