The invention relates to the use of difluoromethylthiadiazolyloxyacetamides, some of which are known, of the general formula (I) in which R stands for hydrogen or for an optionally substituted radical from the series comprising alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or aralkyl, R stands for an optionally substituted radical from the series comprising alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkyl, cycloalkenyl, aralkyl, aryl, alkoxy, alkenyloxy or alkynyloxy, or R and R , together with the nitrogen atom to which they are bonded, form an optionally substituted saturated or unsaturated heterocycle which can contain further heteroatoms and to which a benzo group can be fused, as selective herbicides for various useful plant crops. The invention further relates to a group of new difluoromethylthiadiazolyloxyacetamides and to a process and new intermediates for their preparation.
