PURPOSE:To easily reproduce an original picture by reproducing an original video signal in an odd numbered frame or field from the outputs of first and third memories and reproducing the even numbered original video signal from the outputs of second and third memories. CONSTITUTION:A control logic 8 controls the writing and reading of frame memories 5, 6 and 7 through a write control part 10 and a read control part 11. The signal is alternatively written to the frame memories 6 and 7 in correspondence to the odd numbered and even numbered frames. Reading is executed from any one of the frame memories 5, 6 and 7 and the original signal before one frame in the frame of the received signal is always restored to the frame memory 5 or written as it is. Then, the pictures of one screen are successively reproduced. Thus, by using the only three frame memories, a signal, to which compression processing is executed, can be reproduced and restored.
