Zusammenfassung: | PURPOSE:To obtain the subject member, excellent in sealability and useful for combustion devices, etc., by impregnating a heat-resistant inorganic fiber sheet, etc., with an aqueous solution containing a water-soluble polymer and a rare earth metallic salt, carrying out thermal decomposition, dispersing and supporting a rare earth metallic oxide and further supporting a platinum group- based metal thereon. CONSTITUTION:The objective member is obtained by impregnating a sheet or felt, composed of heat-resistant inorganic fiber such as silica alumina and having, e.g. >=2m /g specific surface area and 0.15-0.50g/cc bulk density with an aqueous solution containing a water-soluble polymer such as polyethylene glycol and a rare earth metallic salt (e.g. cerium nitrate), then carrying out drying and thermal decomposition, dispersing and supporting the resultant rare earth metallic oxide (e.g. cerium oxide) on the sheet or felt and further supporting a platinum group-based metal (e.g. platinum) thereon. |
