PURPOSE:To provide a resin coating compsn. improved in blocking resistance and drying properties, by blending a water-soluble resin with a specific particulate polymer and, if necessary, a crosslinking agent and/or a pigment. CONSTITUTION:Vinyl monomers (b) different in composition from the following component (a) (e.g., a mixture of styrene, p-methylstyrene and divinylbenzene) are emulsion-polymerized in the presence of an emulsion prepared by emulsion polymn. of vinyl monomers (a) (e.g., a mixture of styrene, methyl methacrylate, acrylonitrile and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate) to prepare a particulate hollow or porous polymer (B). 100pts.wt. (based on the solids content) water-soluble resin (A) completely soluble in water or semi-soluble in water to be in stable condition (e.g., a water-soluble epoxy-modified alkyd resin) is blended with 0.1-9,900pts.wt. component B and, if necessary, a crosslinking agent and/or a pigment (C).
