Illumination device for an operation microscope with a light guide for the light supply. Between the light exit surface of the light guide and the main objective lens of the operation microscope there is disposed a device which includes an optical imaging system, consisting of a converging lens and an aspherical lens as well as a diaphragm. This device is displaceable in the direction of its optical axis, this displacement being combined with an adjustment of the diaphragm aperture. The light exit surface of the light guide is imaged by means of this device and the main objective lens onto the operation field and serves for an illumination of this field of the respectively required size.
