PURPOSE:To provide a high-density assembled structure optical cable having a high housing effieicnency of a coated optical fiber and occupied volume ratio in which coated optical fibers are comparatively easily housed. CONSTITUTION:Through type spacer (e.g. E-type cross section spacer) is used which are preliminarily molded in a manner that the spacer has at least two grooves to house coated optical fibers extenting in parallel with each other in the longitudinal direction. Plural coated optical fibers are housed in each optical fiber housing groove of the spacer, and a holding winding tape 27 is applied to constitute subunits 25 having the cross section of rectangular shape structure. A large number of these subunits 25 are twisted one or more layers around tention members 26 to obtain an assembled structural body.
