Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE: To obtain a functional polypeptide having a specific amino acid sequence, corresponding to the fibrin-binding region of fibronectin, inhibiting the binding of platelets to the fibrin, and useful for blood coagulation inhibition, wound healing, drug delivery, etc. CONSTITUTION: This new functional polypeptide has an amino acid sequence of the formula and corresponds to the fibrin-binding domain Asn -Glu (192 amino acids) of human fibronectin(FN). The fibrin-binding domain exhibits a fibrin-binding activity in the FN. The functional polypeptide inhibits the binding of platelets to the fibrin and is useful as a blood coagulation-inhibiting agent and for wound healing and drug delivery systems. The functional polypeptide is obtained by cleaving out a cDNA fragment coding the fibrin-binding domain Asn Glu (192 amino acids) from a 5.6kb plasmid containing the cDNA fragment, inserting the cDNA fragment into an expression vector, transforming a host cell with the obtained vector and subsequently culturing the transformant to express the gene.
