PURPOSE:To enable stable large-current discharge by using lithium or alkarine metal chiefly containing lithium as active material and forming a carrier from a specific carbon material coated with alloy of both active material and metal able to be mixed therewith and/or alloy of the active material. CONSTITUTION:Active material is lithium or alkaline metal chiefly containing it and a carrier is formed from a carbon material coated with metal able to be mixed with active material, and/or alloy of the active material, said carbon material having the hydrogen and carbon atomic percentage of not more than 0.15, the (002) face-to-face spacing (d002) of 3.37A or more by the X-ray wide-angle diffraction method and the crystal element in the (c) direction of 150A or less in size. So the charge-and-discharge cycle life may be prolonged and lithium(Li) which functions as active material at the time of charging or alkalinemetal chiefly containing lithium may be fixed stably to the carrier so that the stable large current discharge may be enabled.
