Zusammenfassung:	PURPOSE:To eliminate color detection error by measuring ON or OFF time for bar code corresponding to each color ink provided on an ink sheet, then specifying color inks and recording using specified colors. CONSTITUTION:Bar code signals lA, lB, lC are arranged in a section to detect the heads of colors A to C of multicolor ink ribbons. Then ON time t1 and OFF time t 1' for bar code detection signals lA1, lB1, lC1 detected by a color sensor are measured using CPU, and color inks are specified based on the measurement results. After this, recording is performed using colors specified from among colors A to C. In addition, it is possible to control the travel speed of an ink sheet in accordance with the measured ON time t1 for the bar code. Thus error in the detection of colors of a multicolor ink sheet can be eliminated.
