PURPOSE:To simply segment and fill data by storing the size of a data filling area and segmenting the data to be filled according to the size of said filling area when the data are segmented and filled for document graphic editing jobs. CONSTITUTION:A display means 4 selects at least a piece of picture data and displays it and a prescribed area 36 of a 1st picture data 33 displayed on a the means 4 is designated by a designating means 37. Then the position and the size of the area 36 are stored in an area memory means 7 together with the picture data on the area 36. Then a 2nd picture data is displayed on the means 4 and a picture area is designated in the same size as the area 36 designated to the 1st picture data. The picture data on said designated picture area is sent to the area 36 and filled there.
