PURPOSE:To make possible the continuation of a discharge action at the time of cutter operation by allowing the first idler gear to be engaged with a discharge roller gear when a gear support rotates in a normal direction and the second idler gear to be engaged with an auxiliary gear when the gear support rotates to an opposite direction. CONSTITUTION:During normal recording, a motor rotates in a normal direction, and when specified recording is terminated and recording paper is cut, the motor 10 is reversed. Consequently, a platen roller 3 is stopped by a one-way clutch 15, but an intermediate gear 20 rotates to a reverse direction as shown by an arrow direction D. Then a rotary cutter 5 is actuated to cut the recording paper. Simultaneously, torque is given to a gear support 22 in accordance with the rotation of the intermediate gear 20 and the gear support 22 moves. The first idler gear 23 and a discharge roller gear 27 are disengaged and the second idler gear 24 is engaged with an auxiliary gear 28. Consequently, an ejection roller 6 is driven by the intermediate gear 20 through the second idler 24 and the auxiliary gear 28 to rotate in a normal direction as shown by an arrow E. In turn, the recording paper is discharged along with the action of the rotary cutter.
